FOOTBALL: Appointment expected soon at managerless Tiverton FOOTBALL: Appointment expected soon at managerless Tiverton

TIVERTON chairman Matthew Conridge expects to appoint a new manager in the next couple of weeks following the resignation of Mark Saunders and his assistant Hedley Steele.

The management pairing stepped down following last week’s 2-1 home defeat to North Leigh which took the Yellows’ winless run to 18 matches.

After last Saturday’s game at Winchester was postponed that run was extended to 19 when Tiverton lost 4-3 at home to Paulton Rovers on Tuesday.

Co-incidentally Paulton have acquired Tiverton’s Joe Bushin after the leading marksman decided the leave the club.

Today the Yellows are due to entertain Mangotsfield in division one (S&W) of the Southern league at 3pm.

The team will be led by temporary player-manager Kevin Hill. The 37-year-old midfielder, who played a record 474 matches for Torquay United, has made it clear he has no intention of taking on the manager’s role on a permanent basis.
