Weston and District League round up
BURNHAM United A were denied three vital points in their Weston & District Saturday League Division 2 relegation battle against Axbridge Town at the weekend.
The home side started the much better of the two sides as Dave Worthington and Tom Penfold distributed the ball around the pitch with ease.
There were chances in the first half for James Chinnock and Matt Mitchell but Burnham had to wait until the stroke of half time before Richard Cattell broke away and sent Dan Broome through as he finished expertly.
That lead was soon doubled in the second half when Mitchell linked up with Cattell who expertly turned in the box before finishing with aplomb.
But Axbridge were not to be undone and in the space of five minutes the game was level.
Next week, the team are at home to Locking Park.
In Division 3, Wedmore suffered a 5-3 defeat to Weston Super Seagulls ahead of their home clash to AFC Nailsea on Saturday.
In Division 4, King Alfred Sport Centre shared the points at home to Worle Rangers in a 2-2 draw and will now turn their attention to another home match against Kewstoke Lions Reserves.
There was no game in Division 1 for Berrow Reserves last week and no scheduled match for the team this weekend, either.
