SWIMMING: Minehead trio compete in county championships
FOR the first time since the closure of their pool in 2008, three swimmers from Minehead and West Somerset Swimming Club made their way last Saturday to compete in the Somerset ASA County Age Groups and Championships at Millfield School.
Heidi Atkins, Chris Clavey and Sam Milliship all achieved county times during the past year, which qualified them to enter this tough competition which brings together the best swimmers in Somerset. All achieved personal best times.
The club is now looking forward to next year and hopes to increase the number of talented swimmers from Minehead and West Somerset able to meet the qualifying times.
All three swimmers are members of the team currently experiencing success in the Cotswold League which competes in Round 3 at Wellington this weekend.
The club currently offers training at Butlins and at Quantock Lodge Pool – to find out more contact Carole Pearse on 01643-704336 or at cpearse2@btinternet.com or www.mandwsswimmingclub.org
