Taunton Saturday league round-up
AN Andrew Skidmore goal was not enough to prevent Bridgwater Sports slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Division One leaders Staplegrove.
Playing just their eighth league game of the season, Bridgwater fell behind to a James Nutt goal before Skidmore levelled before the break.
But heartbreak was to follow as substitute Nick Crowford bagged the winner for Grove who remain unbeaten.
North Petherton steadied the ship with a draw at Alcombe Rovers after last week’s 6-3 defeat.
Petherton had to come from behind to draw 1-1 thanks to Will Marchant, who earlier missed a penalty.
In Division Two runaway leaders Middlezoy Rovers reserves opened up a ten point lead at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Bishops Lydeard Colts.
Chris Singleton and a Dan Russell penalty sealed victory.
Westonzoyland were leapfrogged by Hamilton Hawks after they could only draw 1-1 at Porlock. Dominic Healey scored for the visitors.
Division Three saw Bridgwater Sports reserves and the Merry Monk play out a ten-goal thriller.
Ten-man Bridgwater lost the game 6-4, with goals coming from Dave Gardner, Gareth Monaghan, Gary Howes and Ben Fellows, before Howes was sent off.
Wembdon won 1-0 at Sydenham Rangers thanks to a Ben Cheffey goal and Redgate beat bottom side Williton 5-1.
Sergio D’Faria bagged four for Redgate and Darren Couch got the other.
In Division Four Morganians won 4-0 against Alcombe Rangers Reserves. Gary Ziabeck, Andrew James and Matt Brewer all scored in open play and Chris Reed got the fourth from the penalty spot.
North Petherton reserves’ home game against The Gallery was postponed.
Wembdon Saints reserves and Middlezoy Athletic played out an entertaining 4-4 draw in Division Five.
Graham Gaddy, Sam Murray, Alex Trowman and Chris Fiddler all scored for Saints. Paul Goss got two for Athletic with Brad Walford and Jack Gardener grabbing one each.
Woolavington beat Nether Stowey reserves 4-0. Simon Coombes scored a brace and Phil Rogers and Will Pope got one each.
Chris Thomas opened the scoring for Bridgwater Grasshoppers against Staplegrove Colts but then Colts found their shooting boots to win 4-1.
