TIVERTON'S Alex Jones lost a tight, unanimous decision to Chelmsford’s Lenny Prudence at Barnstable.

It was a tight contest in the first round with Jones trying to press forward and make prudence trade but his smart opponent used slick footwork to just stay out of range and picked his punches well.

Jones continued to press throughout the bout but the story remained much the same.

Coach Paul Harvey said: “Alex boxed well but some nights you have got to hold your hands up take it on the chin and say the better boxer won. He will learn a lot from facing a slick opponent like Prudence.”
