CRICKET: West Monkton welcome new players

WEST Monkton CC are looking forward to the 2013 season with the 1st XI aiming for success in Division 1 of the West Somerset Cricket League while the 2nd XI will be hoping for promotion into Division 3.

Pre-season nets will be held at Monkton Heathfield School sports hall between 10am and 12 noon on Sunday mornings from March 10 and new players are welcome to go along.

The club is also keen to encourage non-playing members who may like to help with the umpiring, administration and upkeep of the ground.

There is a packed social diary for 2013 with events including a race night, tour, “Beach Cricket” club day and annual presentation dinner to be held in October.

From April, club nights will be held at the West Monkton cricket ground on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm.

In addition to the fixtures already agreed, the Sunday XI are looking for two or three further matches for the 2013 season so if you are interested in either joining, or arranging a fixture with the club, contact fixture secretary Ned Binding on 07811-346306.
