PREDATORS Football Club has withdrawn from the Taunton and District Saturday League with immediate effect.

The club joined the league around 15 years ago and has steadily moved its way up the divisions until they gained promotion to the top league a couple of seasons ago.

They finished runner's up to Middlezoy Rovers in 2011/12 but a statement from league officials said the club will struggle to fulfil its fixtures this season.

A league spokesman said: “It is with great regret that Predators have been forced to pull out of the league, they have struggled all season to keep things going and with the recent weather problems it has all just become impossible for them.

“Rather than let other sides down by not fulfilling fixtures they have decided that enough is enough.

“The League would like to thank Wayne Trapnell (manager) and Lisa Young (secretary) for all their hard work.”

Mr Trapnell told the Weekly News it was the hardest decision the club has had to make.

He added: "A lot of players could not commit and we lost other players to senior clubs.

"I would like to thank all past and present players, opponents, the league and Sue at Pawlett Social Club for their support of the club."

League tables have been adjusted to remove all games involving Predators.
