Western Counties North
Avon 31, Burnham 19
AFTER a promising first-half performance, Burnham were undone in the latter parts of this clash with Avon and fell to a 31-19 defeat.
Burnham started with the wind on the backs and opened the scoring with a penalty before Avon responded with a drop-goal.
A penalty apiece later, Avon were looking sharp but Burnham intercepted an ambitious pass and went 40 metres for a converted try.
Before half-time, Burnham kicked two more penalties to take a 16-19 lead at the break.
The second half was a different affair though as Avon scored 15 unanswered points to snatch the win.
This week, they take on Cirencester at home. The second team had no game this weekend but will travel to Ivel Barbarians on Saturday.
