GOLF: Dave Clark wins at Taunton and Pickeridge

A TOTAL of 107 players took part in the February Stableford at Taunton & Pickeridge on Saturday and enjoyed a course in tip-top condition.

The best score was recorded by Dave Clark, whose 39 points was enough to secure not only the division one prize, but also saw his handicap reduced to single figures.

Division two winner was Andy Bird by a single point margin, with the division three honours going to Peter Bettridge.

Sunday’s competition was a somewhat smaller affair, with 2011 captain Roy Mitchell securing top spot.

Mike Hooper enjoyed second place and also a share of the prize money.

Earlier in the week a Texas Scramble provided competitive golf for the ladies’ section, with the trio of Rosie Spragg, Jill Paul and Judy Powell the day’s winners.

Their nett score of 55 gave them a two-shot victory over Jackie Lynn, Ann Williams and Elaine Payne.
