BRIDGWATER Swimming Club were in action for their first Cotswold League gala of 2013 against Severnside Tritons, Backwell, and Cwmbran.

The club started the gala strongly with great swims from Ella Nash, Scott Fletcher, Becka Locke and Sean Fletcher in the Individual Medley events. The first major breakthrough for the club came in event eight the boy’s 13s and under 50m Breaststroke.

Alex Towells took the lead early in the race and held on all the way through despite a strong challenge from both the Backwell and Cwmbran swimmers. Becka Locke then added to the win in event 11 the Ladies 100m Butterfly with a dominant display.

The club had to then wait until event 18 the 15 and under 50m Breaststroke and once again Sean Fletcher put in a good performance. The success in the breaststroke events continued as Bridgwater demonstrated to the other clubs just how Breaststroke is swum, this time with Jordan Cheffey taking the win in the men’s 100m Breaststroke.

Full competitive debuts were given to Stephanie Blake, Fern Towells, Jasmine Forsey, Ben Towells, Ethan Druce, Marek Kocan, Weronika Borowska, and Daniel Kocan. In addition to this both Pheobe and Sylvi Flureot both made their first appearance for the club since joining from Taunton Dean Swimming.

Swimmer of the meet award went to Connor Bryant.

The final results were Backwell 194, Cwmbran 143, Severnside Titons 96, and Bridgwater 93.
