BRIDGWATER Sports travelled to Bishops Lydeard in the Somerset Junior Cup Quarter Final and neither side were able to break the deadlock after two hours of football so it went to the dreaded penalties.

Lydeard went first and scored but Lewis Bellringer saved Sports first attempt and that was the end of that as Lydeard went on to score all five of their efforts.

Middlezoy Rovers Reserves on the other hand go through to the semi final but owe much to Joe Warren in their goal and a resolute back four performance against the best side they have played this season, who last week had convincingly beaten Blagdon Hill 4-0.

Warren made three match winning saves and saw the ball come off his woodwork twice whilst at the other end Sam Lewis scored an unlikely header with fifteen minutes to go.

In Division One North Petherton have moved up to third after beating SRL Allsaints 2-0. They too had five missing on the day but worked hard for the points.

SRL had the best of the first period but spurned their chances, after the turn round and now playing down hill Pethy used the long ball to capitalise and score twice through Oli Pascoe and Brady Hart.

Dulverton picked up their fourth victory of the season beating Highbridge 5-1 for whom Mark Chapman scored.

In Division Two, a Jack Evett hat trick gave Westonzoyland a 3-2 victory at Appletree which moves them up to second in the table.

Wembdon Saints have taken over the vacated third spot by beating Watchet on their own patch 4-1, Scott Harman was another striker hitting a hat trick with John Doyle adding the fourth.

The surprise result in the division was the convincing win by Nether Stowey over Hamilton Hawks by a 3-0 margin. George Pike, Bradley Hayes and Chris Young all netted for Stowey.

In Division Three Sydenham held Blagdon Hill for the first 43 minutes but then conceded two before the interval and another eight in the second half.

Wembdon took the lead over Bridgwater Sports Reserves with a Dan Casson goal but Sports fought back to take the three points with a 2-1 win, Scott Clapp and Josh Champion scoring.

In Division Four, The Gallery hang onto third spot after their 2-0 away win over Morganians with goals from Adam Jenkins and Connor Watts.

Norton Fitzwarren beat Bridgwater Sports Colts by the odd goal in seven. Colts scorers were Mason Gill, Brad Kelly and Luke Coles.
