AT the third attempt the delayed 'Christmas Cracker' meeting finally got on track last Friday at the Oaktree Arena.

In the early stages, with riders shaking off several months of inactivity, and putting machines in order, some of the race winners took a distinct advantage from slick starting, but as the meeting progressed, the track came into play, with a dirt line developing on the outside.

Somerset Rebels star Kyle Newman won heat three after a re-run, came second in heat seven, first in heat nine, was excluded from heat 14 and finished third in heat 20.

Ben Barker (Birmingham/Ipswich) won the grand final.

The action will return to the Oaktree Arena in March when the Somerset Rebels will hold their Press and Practice day on Friday, March 22, before the first competitive action follows a week later, when they entertain the Plymouth Devils.
