STAPLEGROVE reserves progressed to the fifth round of the Somerset Intermediate Cup with a 2-1 victory at Combe St Nicholas.

Playing down the slope in the first half, they were soon two goals to the good thanks to Seth Reece and Adam Smith. Combe got one back within the first 30 minutes and that's how it ended.

In Division One of the Taunton Saturday league Sampford Blues' 6-0 thrashing of Dulverton has seen them rise up the table from eighth to sixth.

Luke Lawrence and Cam Nott both scored twice, Craig Lawrence and a deft lob from Luke Perry completed the scoring.

In Division Two Westonzoyland took the lead against Appletree during a quiet first half through Nathan Barnard.

They stepped up a gear and added to their total through Andrew Evans, Jack Evett and Matt Evans to go 4-0 ahead Craig Burnett got a late consolation for Appletree.
