Poor weather hampering Bridgwater Town turnaround
BRIDGWATER Town joint boss Kevin Milsom says the weather is not helping the team’s cause as they try to turnaround a ‘difficult’ start to the year.
Town have only managed to play three times in 2013 picking up one point and their last match on against Merthyr was two weeks ago.
Both of last week’s matches against North Leigh and Mangotsfield United were postponed and players have had to train indoors at Bridgwater College.
But Milsom said it is difficult because there is only a certain amount of work they can do other than five-a-side games.
He added: “Sometimes we haven’t been able to train and it wouldn’t be right of me to expect people to risk their lives travelling a long way in dangerous conditions.
“I trust the players are training, going to the gym, running, whatever they need to do because they are good lads and want to play well at this level.
“The weather has not helped along with injuries and illness but we have not been too far away from winning.
“If we were losing games by a country mile then I would be more concerned.
“I knew the run would come to an end but if we can start another run and get six or seven games unbeaten then we can push for the play-offs again.
“We are not going to get carried away by talk about the play-offs because there is a lot of hard work to do first.”
Bradley Middleton will miss this week’s matches, if they go ahead, as he serves a two-game suspension after picking up ten yellow cards so far this season.
Talking transfer news, Milsom said: “We have a few irons in the fire but at the moment we would rather keep those close to our chest.”
Weather permitting, Town are set to play their re-arranged match with Mangotsfield away tonight (Tuesday). Kick-off is 7.45pm.
