BERROW completed the double over second placed Cutters Friday to open up a nine point lead at the top of the Premier Division.

After having had their two previous games cancelled due to the recent poor weather Berrow made one with Harry Penfold replacing the unavailable Josh White.

The home side made the better start forcing corners but not causing Ash Harrison any problems in the Berrow goal.

As the visitors settled into the game they began to cause the home defence problems and when Stuart Green was fouled 30 yards from goal, Luke McErlain's free kick was headed home by Jeff Read, taking the skippers scoring streak to five in five.

Berrow extended the lead with Luke Morgan sending Green clean through to beat the keeper for his first goal for the club.

Cutters appeared fired up for the second half but could not penetrate the back four of Penfold, Kyle McErlain, Pete John and Scott Lismore, anything that did get through dealt with by Harrison.

Cutters forced a goal back when a shot finally beat Harrison only for Penfold to clear off the line, but the home striker bundled the follow up home to force a tense last 20 minutes.

Leading scorer Connor Watts tested the tiring home defence and when he won one of several free kicks against him Luke McErlain's right boot found the head of Read who brought a classy save out of the home keeper.

As the game approached injury time, Lismore made a fantastic block on six yard line and with just a minute to go Read won the ball in midfield and played Watts in on goal and he produced a brilliant lobbed finish to seal a superb away victory.
