Gems 46, Newton 27

GREAT defending from Kerry Hobbs and Susan Bushnell meant Gems had a slight lead at the end of the first quarter 14 - 11.

Accurate shooting from Justine Pearn and Hannah Clapp helped the score move to 31 - 15 at half time.

Newton slowed the game down but a determined Gems side worked hard to a final win of 46 - 27. Player of the match went to Kerry Hobbs.

Sapphires 41, Bishops 21

SAPPHIRES got off to a sluggish start but excellent defending from Nic Hale, Rachel Lawrence and Kerry Clarke, helped them establish a 6-5 lead.

After a short break Sapphires got into the game, and accurate shooting from Hannah Read and Abi Ridler gave Sapphires a 22-9 lead at half time.

Sapphires continued their form in the second half of the game with fluid and consistent play down the court by Laura Coombes, Mikki Hole and Katie Ball to win 41-21. Player of the match was Rachel Lawrence.

Emeralds 30, Hendford 41

EMERALDS lead 11 - 7 lead at the end of the first quarter but Hendford fought back to a four goal lead at half time despite good linking play between Alex Williams, Leanne Wegg and Michelle Martin.

Attackers Roxy McDowell and Adele Ranford worked hard but Hendford's defence stepped up to pick up picked up several rebounds and they ran out a 41-30 winners.

Leanne Wegg was voted player of the game.

Garnets 28, Canons 44

GARNETS fell behind early on but this was addressed in the second quarter with Mia Bennett and Hannah Wallis working hard to get in front of their players.

Stef Riordan also helped to open the play up but by the fourth quarter Garnets were trailing.

They did find a new lease of life but left themselves too much to do and fourth placed Canons ran out as 44-28 winners.

Player of the match went to Hannah Wallis

Ambers 21, Reckleford 37

AMBERS had a good first quarter and the score was close with but Reckleford's strong attack, they conceded more than they had hoped.

Good movement from Lucy McCabe and interceptions by Katie Dennison helped Ambers to deliver the ball to their end third.

However, Reckleford still could not be beaten and won the match 37 - 21. Player of the match was shared between Georgia Edmundson and Chelsie Coombes.

Rubies 40, Swans 48

RUBIES started with steady play, tight marking and accurate shooting to lead by two goals 8 - 6. Unfortunately in the second quarter, Swans played strongly, with their shooters on great form to turn the scores around.

Rubies managed to pull back the score at 3/4 time with Wells only leading 32-29 as Laura Coombes, Mikki Hole and Kerry Clark had good games to feed in to the circle to Paige Pople and Lynne Cornish.

But Swans pulled away to a final score of 48 - 40. Player of the match was Coombes.
