MANAGER Jamie Ward is looking to get Wellington’s Toolstation league season back on course when they visit Devizes Town on Saturday – weather permitting.

Wellington have now seen four consecutive matches postponed because of waterlogged pitches. The latest fixture to fall foul of the weather was the New Year’s Day fixture at Sherborne.

And it means Ward’s charges have not played since their impressive 3-0 victory at Warminster Town on December 15.

Ward said: “Obviously it’s been very frustrating because we had hit a bit of form and instead of being able to carry that on we’ve got to find it again.

“The weather has also meant we havn’t been able to train outdoors but we’ll have a training session this week and make sure we blow the cobwebs away.

“I suppose the only consolation is that everybody else is in the same boat.”

Only Sherborne have played fewer matches than Wellington this season and the backlog of matches means teams will be playing twice or even three times a week towards the end of the season.

Ward added: “When that happens you are relying on the strength of your squad and their availability.

“It can be a bit of a juggling act. But I would consider our squad is strong enough and the players who come in will do a good job.”

The postponements have meant a lot of work behind the scenes re-arranging fixtures.

Those sorted so far are: Wednesday, January 16 v Elmore (h) 7.30pm; Saturday, February 9 v Welton Rovers (h) 3pm; Wednesday, February 13 v Cribbs Friends Life (a) 7.30pm; Wednesday February 20, v Cribbs Friends Life (h) 7.30pm; Tuesday, April 16 v Almondsbury UWE (a) 7.30pm.
