THE Oaktree Arena, home to the Somerset Rebels, finished as runner-up in the Premier League section for speedway's 'track of the year' awards as voted by the sport's referees.

Somerset Promoter Debbie Hancock said: ““The track staff here at Somerset take a great deal of pride in their work and everyone connected with the club are delighted to have received such recognition.”

Seven riders have confirmed their participation in Somerset Speedway's Salt Express sponsored 'Christmas Cracker' meeting being staged at the Oaktree Arena on December 28.

Ipswich's new number 1 for the 2013 season, Ben Barker, Barker's 2012 team-mate at Plymouth, American Ryan Fisher, GB International, Lewis Bridger, and Dutchman Randy Oldenziel, Ricky Ashworth, David Howe and Simon Lambert will be at the event.

Admission prices for the meeting have been set at £16 for adults, £12 concessions and £4 for juniors 12-16, while children 11 and under will be admitted free of charge if accompanied by a paying adult (maximum of two children per adult), additionally there will be a Family Ticket (two adults, two juniors) available at £36.
