FOOTBALL: Sampford announce team for tonights Legends match at Wellington FC

SAMPFORD Blues have announced their ‘Legends’ squad to play Wellington Legends in a special night of football at the Playing Field tonight (Friday).
Team: Aziz Abbaze, Julian Bussell, Nick Buttle (capt), Sean Buttle, Andy Childs, Jason Earl, Charles Hardman, Ian Nott, Mike Lane, Graham Maunder, Gary Rice, Paul Rowlands, Jon Stone, Paul Summers, Steve Trevelyan, Mark Wescott, Christian Woon, Steve Jacks.
Managers: Matt Holmes and Peter Joslyn. Physio: Andy Pitman. Mascots: Wellington Wildcats under-13 girls.
Players of all ages are coming together to celebrate the life of Wellington AFC stalwart Selwyn Aspin, who died last month, and the centrepiece of the evening will be the Legends match.
Proceedings start at 6pm with a sponsored penalty shootout competition for teams from the home club’s youth section and also Wellington Ladies.
After the shootout – at approximately 7.15pm – a permanent tribute to Mr Aspin will be unveiled. The Legends game is due to kick-off at 7.30pm.
At half-time, the veterans will be given an extended break as Wellington Ladies take the field for a 20-minute match.
Following the Legends game, there will be presentations in the clubhouse and entertainment from singer Ryan Hawkings. Admission is £3 for adults and free for children.
Wellington Legends (first half): Stuart Parris, Graham Aspin (capt), Kevin Bryant, Matt Brereton, Barry Bartram, Ian Jackson, Paul Pocock, Adrian Gladstone-Smith, Terry Coppin, Steve Jenkins, Adrian Gaines. Substitutes: Shaun Richards, Joe Conway, Dave Thomas, Martin Jenkins.
Second half: Wayne Hitchcott, Nick Bowrah, Barry Knott (capt), Sean Maunder, Jason Greedy, Darren Knowling, Richard Jenkins, Mark Brereton, Nick Woon, Pete Hawkings, Andy Smith. Substitutes: Wayne Maunder, Jason Hawkings, Steve Luxon.
