A SPECIAL night of football takes place in Wellington tomorrow (Friday) and the club is hoping the public will turn out in force.

Players of all ages are coming together at the Playing Field to celebrate the life of Wellington AFC stalwart Selwyn Aspin who died last month.

The centrepiece of the event will be a match between Wellington Legends and Sampford Blues Legends – featuring a host of former players from the two clubs.

Proceedings start at 6pm with a sponsored penalty shootout competition for teams from the club’s youth section and also Wellington Ladies.

After the shootout – at approximately 7.15pm – a permanent tribute to Mr Aspin will be unveiled. The Legends game is due to kick-off at 7.30pm.

At half-time, the veterans will be given an extended break as Wellington Ladies take the field for a 20-minute match.

Following the Legends game, there will be presentations in the clubhouse and entertainment from singer Ryan Hawkings. Admission is £3 for adults and free for children.
