Burnham-on-Sea 2nd XV 22, Ivel Barbarians 0

BURNHAM bounced back from last week’s defeat to see off any threat posed by visitors Ivel Barbarians.

Ivel went on the attack from the start to push Burnham into their own half but a counter-attack saw the home side win a penalty which was converted by Alex Watkins.

Burnham were suddenly on the up and soon after Ben Bowkett made a break and, after a couple of passes, Matt Love found space to score between the uprights, converted by Watkins.

As the game approached the end of the first half, a turnover and good work from Burnham allowed Watkins to pass to Love who beat two tackles to score and give the home side a 15-0 lead.

In the second half, Burnham’s defence were made to work really hard as wave after wave of Ivel attacks kept the pressure on the home side.

But Burnham had the last laugh and scored another try through Rob Lewis, converted by Alex Watkins, sealed the 22-0 win.
