Somerset Rebels in double-header showdown

Ryan Fisher leads the way in heat one for Somerset Rebels
THE next two days will mark some of the most exciting times in Somerset Rebels' history for a decade.
They travel to Ipswich tonight (Thursday) with their 53-39 lead in the League Cup Final and will hope to lift their first silverware since 2008.
Then, tomorrow (Friday) marks your last chance to watch the Somerset Rebels as the team line up against the Scunthorpe Scorpions at the Oaktree Arena on Friday in the first leg of the Premier League Play-Off Final that will determine British Speedway's 2012 Premier League Champions.
Victory for the Rebels over the two legs of the Grand Final, the second leg being staged at Scunthorpe on Sunday, will see them become Premier League Champions for the first time in their history, which will be even more remarkable when one considers the fact that the club was only formed in 2000, and did not join the Premier League itself until 2002, just a mere ten years ago.
Rebels promoter Debbie Hancock said: “This has to be the biggest night in the history of the Somerset Rebels and the possibility of becoming Premier League Champions is just amazing.
“I hope everyone locally, whether they have been to speedway before or not, come along to support the Rebels on Friday night.”
With Somerset captain Jason Doyle sidelined due to the neck injury he sustained in the recent Premier League Riders' Championship at Sheffield, Somerset have booked the services of the winner of that Riders' Championship, Edinburgh's Craig Cook, to guest in Doyle's place in both legs of the Championship Final against the Scorpions.
The second leg of the Championship Play-Off Final at Scunthorpe is on Sunday, October 28 at 4pm.
