Le Roc night coins in funds for Piers Simon Appeal

A FUNDRAISING Le Roc night organised by the Rotary Club raised nearly £300 for the president’s charity of the year.

Sarah Holley, president of the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District, is backing the School in a Bag initiative spearheaded by the Piers Simon Appeal, based at Chilthorne Domer, near Yeovil.

“School in a Bag is a simple solution created to help poor, orphan, vulnerable and disaster-affected children throughout the world,” she said.

“Each school bag is filled with stationery and resources that will enable children to write, draw, colour, calculate, express themselves and, above all, learn.”

Dancers from Riviera Le Roc in Taunton provided instruction.

The club is always on the look-out for new members – log on to the group’s website at www.crewkerne|districtrotary.org.uk or phone membership officer Jon Goodwin on 01460-73707.

The next fundraising event is a joint project with the Rotary Club of Chard – a quiz night at Holditch Hall on Wednesday, November 14.

Entry is £6.50 a head, including ploughman’s supper. Teams of four are required with funds to be split between the School in a Bag initiative and Rotary Foundation. Phone Sarah Holley on|01460-67249 for details.
