A 12-YEAR-OLD schoolboy has won a competition to design a logo for his home parish.
Lee Harris, then a pupil at Stogursey Primary School, was awarded a cheque for £50 as the winning entry in the competition by the parish council and parish plan group.
His design will be used on the Parish Lengthsman van, alongside those of EDF Energy and Greenslades, and on parish documents and letters.
Allan Searle, Chairman of Stogursey Parish Council, said: “I am very proud and grateful about the new design crafted by Lee for Stogursey Parish Council.
“It is fantastic to see it displayed on our Lengthsman’s van. We all wish Lee all the very best both now and into the future.”
District Councillor Chris Morgan added: “A big thank you and congratulations to Lee for such an outstanding design that is so recognisable.”
David Eccles, head of EDF Energy’s Bridgwater office, emphasised the importance of work done by Lengthsman Phil Venning, including helping to manage vegetation, maintaining footpaths and stiles and helping reduce localised flooding in the winter.
He added: “The Parish Lengthsman scheme works collaboratively with the whole community and brings real, lasting benefit to the local area surrounding the Hinkley Point C site.”
