AVON and Somerset’s first Police and Crime Commissioner will be elected on Thursday, November 15.

The four candidates standing in the election so far are Pete Levy (LibDem), John Savage (Labour), Ken Maddock (Conservative) and Sue Mountstevens (Independent).

Anyone else has until October 19 to announce they are contesting the election. If you wish to vote you need to contact Taunton Deane Council to make sure you are registered.

The commissioner will be responsible for setting the police force’s priorities, overseeing its budget and hiring the chief constable.
