A MUSIC festival in memory of former Clash front man Joe Strummer has been given the green light to go ahead on the Blackdown Hills.

The Strummer of Love takes place on the weekend of August 17-19 to mark the 10th anniversary of his death.

Organised by the charity Strummerville, it will feature artists The Pogues, Badly Drawn Boy, Frank Turner, Seasick Steve and Billy Bragg.

Charity director, Trish Whelan, said: “The Strummer Of Love festival is something we have been working on for a long time here at Strummerville, and holding it in Somerset was always paramount.

"Joe loved these hills and it’s where he spent the last years of his life.

"Of course, we are delighted to work with the local community to make this a very special all-inclusive event and a fantastic celebration."

At £175 a ticket I can't see it being a runaway success!

I agree with Dr Dave too expensive in these times of frozen pay rises. I would love to attend but cannot justify £175 for a weekend myself.
