AN Ilminster GP was recently elected to Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) at a ceremony in London.

Dr Jill Wilson of Summervale Medical Centre received the accolade, which is is 'recognised as being the highest grade of membership, and a way of enabling the RCGP to recognise its members achievement' and is 'a recognition by one’s peers as being exceptional.'

It was awarded to Dr Wilson following 20 years as a GP and medical educator – and as her Fellowship citation said she 'loves both roles equally'.

As well as spending three days a week in general practice, Dr Wilson is involved in training future GPs at a local, regional and national level.

She would like to thank her partners and staff, at Summervale Medical Centre, for all their help and support over the years which has created a successful learning environment for trainee GPs and allowed her to pursue such an interesting and rewarding 'portfolio career'.

Dr Wilson is looking forward to continuing her work as Summervale move to their new premises in Canal Way later this summer.
