YOUNGSTERS from West Somerset have received glowing reviews for performing in a colourful musical at the Regal Theatre in Minehead.
The cast of Around the World in 80 Days was made up of almost 50 children from Minehead Middle School and D.R.E.A.M.S. Performing Arts.
They wowed audiences with four performances in a production which followed Phileas Fogg, played by Dan Boulton, in his attempt to travel around the world in 80 days.
More than 200 costumes and props, including a Chinese dragon, hot air balloon and Indian elephant, complemented the vibrant show, which featured a circus scene complete with performing dog, acrobats and clowns.
Director and choreographer Dianne Turner said: “The children were fantastic, they all excelled in their roles.
“I am very proud of them and would like to thank them, the production team and crew for all the hard work they put in to make the show such a success.
“Thank you, also, to Paul Rushforth, head teacher of Minehead Middle School, who was a fantastic help behind the scenes and to the many teachers and parents who chaperoned the stars of the show.”
