YOUNG drivers in Burnham can receive a £75 grant toward the cost of an advanced driving course.
The grant, which covers about 50% of the total cost of the Pass Plus scheme, is available from Somerset Road Safety.
Driving instructors accredited by Somerset County Council are also giving up their time to take advanced lessons that are above the requirements of the Driving Standards Agency.
County cllr David Hall, cabinet member responsible for road safety, said: “About one third of all casualties on our roads are drivers aged between 17 and 24.
"It is therefore vital that we give young people in particular all the help they can get.”
Pass Plus provides further help for driving along country lanes and on motorways, as well as in different driving conditions.
