CARE is top of the menu at this Wiveliscombe care home.
Staff and residents at Sharpe House are celebrating after meeting essential quality standards in its latest inspection.
Based on West Road, the home passed its Care Quality Commission (CQC) examination with flying colours.
In a report issued by the CQC, officials commended the work of staff, saying ‘people appeared very comfortable and relaxed in the presence of staff’ and that it was clear staff ‘knew the needs, abilities and preferences of each person very well’.
It also highlighted that residents are ‘provided with opportunities to be involved’ in their care and treatment and that the home was meeting essential standards.
The home, which has seven staff members and nine residents, was inspected in December, and manager Lee Phillips believes the nature of the report is testament to the hard work of his team.
Lee, who has been manager at the home since May 2011, told the County Gazette: “Given the bad press care homes have of late this really is good news; we are all extremely proud of the report.
“We have a strong ethic and dedicated staff team who all work desperately hard to give our residents a positive quality of life.”
