AN event has been planned to give the public an opportunity to express their views on how the new Localism Act will affect people across West Somerset.
Speakers from the National Trust, Exmoor National Park and Somerset Wildlife Trust will share a platform next Wednesday (February 22) in Minehead to take questions from concerned residents about how the new planning policies will effect the local environment.
Forum 21 steering group member Mark Ogden, who will be chairing the question time session, said: “This will be a forum for community groups, local politicians and planning officers to debate and explore the potential opportunities and barriers of the new Localism Act and National Planning Policy Framework for those who are working on green and sustainability initiatives in Western Somerset and on Exmoor.
“It should be a good occasion to discover how we might use the Act and Policies for the benefit of West Somerset, hear the views of well-informed speakers, and ask how our local communities are likely to be affected."
The event begins at 7pm at the Methodist Church Hall, The Avenue, Minehead and admission is free.
