A SURGEON at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital has launched an Indian restaurant in the town.

Mint and Mustard, on Station Road, was opened by Taunton Deane MP Jeremy Browne and Deane Mayor Cllr Steve Brooks.

Mint and Mustard already has a successful restaurant in Cardiff.

Around 200 guests attended last Thursday's grand opening.

Mr Browne said: “It is great to see such an acclaimed restaurant in Taunton.

"To see the dedication and enthusiasm its owner Ajit M. Kandoran has for the restaurant and its success in Taunton was fantastic.

"The investment Mr Kandoran has put into Mint and Mustard is brilliant.

"The change to the building itself is incredible and having celebrity Indian Chef Pramod designing and creating the diverse menu of contemporary Indian cuisine will be very popular with customers.

“I am delighted that Mr Kandoran chose Taunton as the new venue for his restaurant.

"Such new investment for the town is encouraging, especially as retail and restaurants are two of the business outlets that are finding it tougher in the current economic climate."

The SCG are now changing their reporting based on our comments, I posted a comment here last week, the story has been re-written and my comments removed. Perhaps if the reporters checked their text first, before publishing, this might reduce some of the comments about poor reporting?

Didn't we used to have an MP called that, he used to be seen in the town going about his business rather than just opening Charity shops and Indian restaurants?

Who, apart from the proletariat, want to go to an Indian restaurant in Station Road Taunton in an
evening? After all Station Road is well renowned for prostitution and fights amongst drunks emerging
from the numerous pubs in the area - remember the Saturday markets! On balance anything in Station
Road Taunton is best avoided in the evenings unless one can employ "minders" to ensure one's safety.

When was the last time you visited station rd? i ask as it only has two public houses and is not the centre of vice and violence you seem to think it is. Do you live in St Austell like your screen name suggests? if so i think you will find it has more than its fair share of meat heads and someone who speaks with little experience.
