A CHANCE for a youngster to gain some work experience with an Ilminster music charity has become available this week.

Classical music concert organisers Concerts in the West are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer good with computers and with excellent written English to join its team.

The selected volunteer will be helping for around six hours a week to publicise the arts charity’s concerts, which showcase some of the UK’s best young musicians, as well as research, contacting sponsors and entering data.

While knowledge of classical music is useful for the role, it is not essential – and the work, which will provide useful experience to add to your CV, can be based at home or in the Concerts in the West office in Ditton Street.

Catherine Hodgson, director of Concerts in the West said: “They don’t need to be passionate about classical music but knowing a little bit about music will help when they are searching for information.”

Concerts in the West is an annual series of concerts, which started in 2006 and in 2012 there is set to be eight concert tours running from February to October in Somerset, Dorset and Devon.

Catherine, who is also the director of the London Handel Festival added: “The volunteer can come and be part of each event – especially the ones which take place in Ilminster.”
