CHILDREN at Dunster First School learnt about road safety and the dangers of playing with fire.
Fire fighters and police officers visited the school where the children watched a DVD on road safety.
They even got the chance to dress up in emergency service uniforms themselves.
Constable Bruce Strachan and PCSOs Katherine Williams and Sue Hurley taught the Year One children how to cross the road safely.
They also judged a competition the children entered to design a poster reminding their fellow pupils to cross roads safely and drivers to look out for children crossing roads.
The winners Rune Margison, Olivia Stanbury, Hugo Richards, Charlie Kellett and Katie Wilmot will have their posters displayed outside the school.
Class teacher, Shelley Payne said: βIt is so important that children learn about staying safe on our roads and asking the police to talk to the children helps reinforce that message.β
The children watched a DVD about Frances the Firefly, learnt about the work fire fighters do and received a virtual ride in a fire engine.
