YOUNG filmmakers from Bridgwater could land a prestigious award - if they can impress James Bond.

The Young People's Film Council, a group of youngsters aged seven to 18 based at the Engine Room, has been nominated for the First Light Award for its short film, The Apothecary.

A period drama about an 18th century apothecary, the film is pitted against three others in the best drama category, and the judges will include the 007 actor Daniel Craig, Claudia Winkleman from Film 2011 and Nathan Stewart Jarrett, from TV show Misfits.

Somerset Film also has two films nominated in other categories - Until My Hearts Like Finished - which was produced with young people at the Bridgwater YMCA - and Can You Teach A Worm To Tango?, which was produced with Stogursey Primary School.

Hosted by Nick Grimshaw, the ceremony will take place at ODEON, in Leicester Square, London, on March 15.
