A TALENTED musician from Bridgwater will appear on a new television show dedicated to the best unsigned acts in the country.

Hayden Prosser, 20, will appear on Channel 4's Edith Bowman presents Evo Music Rooms with his high-energy gypsy-style band Alejandro and the Magic Tombolinos on April 22.

The double-bassist is a former Haygrove School and Bridgwater College student who grew up in Hamp and Stogursey before heading to Middlesex University to study jazz.

Hayden applied to join the band after seeing them in a London jazz club and was selected following an audition process.

He told the Mercury: “When I first saw Alejandro I got really into the music and people are really surprised with how much variety the music has. It's really danceable.

“My progression into the style of bass to play in the band was fairly natural but I had to do a lot of preparation before joining.”

Hayden says he is not after fame but hopes the show will give his band more publicity - and perhaps even a record deal.

He added: “My family are really proud of how far I've come and they have been the ones who have helped me out with my music.”

You can watch Hayden perform with Alejandro and the Tombolinos on Channel 4 on Friday, April 22, at 12.05am.
