THE Vaux Park Polo Club at South Petherton held an end of season tournament and charity champagne tea at its headquarters at Wigborough Manor which raised £5,000 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Guests came to watch the last polo match of the day and then headed in to Wigborough Manor for the charity auction and tea party A club spokesman said: “There were 60 guests altogether and every one was so generous.”

The auction included promises such as a hot air balloon ride for two, a break for four at Cottesmore Lodges in Sussex, salmon fishing on the River Dart, therapeutic massages, and other donations made by Classic Canes, Lanes Hotel , and Juals Clothing.

The spokesman added: “The total raised that afternoon was £5,000.

“We are thrilled and can’t thank all of the guests enough for the extremely generous bids and of course for all of the kind auction donations we had to offer.

“The reason we choose to support the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is that two of our members have had serious accidents in the past and if it was not for the air ambulance they may not be with us today.

“So this will be one of many charity events we do here at Vaux Park and hope to raise lots more money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance in the future.”
