Somerset Skills event attracts 2,500 students

MORE than 2,500 school leavers obtained career and skills advice from over 50 stands at a Skills Somerset event at Junction 24, North Petherton.

The two-day event included interactive demonstrations and one-to-one advice to highlight the importance of skills and training in helping young people get on at work.

It was funded by the Somerset Strategic Partnership, Somerset County Council, the learning and Skills Council and Connexions.

The careers information ranged from uniformed services to construction engineers, beauty therapists to photographers, fashion designers to health specialists and hundreds of other career and job roles.
