PUPILS from Shapwich Prep School near Bridgwater got up close and personal with some slithery snakes as part of their Life Science studies.

The year seven students enjoyed a day out at the Tropiquaria near Minehead and learned all about various vertebrate and invertebrate animals.

The highlight of the day for the group was when they got the chance to hold the snakes, a coil python and a Boa Constrictor.

There was also a new arrival in the form of a very obese skunk - Mr Bumble weighed in at an impressive 12kg!

Overall the pupils and staff enjoyed a very informative trip which the school hopes to repeat next year.
