HOT on the heels of their ongoing success in the South West Regional Britain in Bloom contest, Yeovil Town Council has teamed up with local media companies, Rich Productions and Classic Media, to produce a short DVD that features a variety of aspects of the Yeovil in Bloom initiative.

The film, which was commissioned locally and sponsored by AgustaWestland plc, was screened for the first time at this year’s South West in Bloom presentation event and was well received by all those present. A number of the Town’s floral displays are featured in the film, which includes footage filmed throughout the year.

The South West in Bloom Committee, which oversees the annual regional contest, were pleased with the film, which they felt epitomised the “in bloom” concept.

The committee is keen to use the film as a shining example of how to engage with local businesses and local communities to promote and deliver the objectives of Britain in Bloom.

The DVD, which was filmed entirely in Yeovil, may be viewed by visiting the Town Council’s website – www.yeoviltown.com – which is hosted by local web company, Third Dimension Ltd.

Cllr David Recardo, chairman of the town council's Yeovil in Bloom Steering Group, said: "I am extremely pleased with the quality of the film and am grateful for the kind support of AgustaWestland plc who met the cost of its production.

“The film not only captures many of the wonderful floral displays that the town provides, but also the community spirit, all of which has combined in recent years to enable Yeovil to achieve three gold medals in the regional competition.”

The town council, in partnership with the town centre manager, is now exploring the possibility of working with other organisations and stakeholders in Yeovil who may be interested in sponsoring a new version of the film to promote other facilities and attractions that the town has to offer.
