PEOPLE rocketed down to Porlock on Saturday for an event of astronomical proportions.
The 80-plus visitors to the village hall were left starry-eyed as they handled real meteorites, enjoyed presentations from astronomers and learned more about the solar system inside a planetarium.
The event was organised by Exmoor National Park to mark the International Year of Astronomy and to bolster the park's bid to achieve Dark Sky Reserve status.
Dark Sky Reserves are areas that have been recognised for their lack of light pollution at night.
