New art exhibition at the Nine Springs Natural Health Centre

THE latest exhibition at Nine Springs Natural Health Centre in Yeovil is work by Tom and Andrea Clark.

The Somerset-based artists work in different media and the current exhibition at 70 Hendford in Yeovil reflects this.

Tom began carving in 1974, first as a monumental mason and later as an ecclesiastical mason at Chichester Cathedral.

He worked on many large, interesting restoration projects including St George’s Chapel in Windsor, Westminster Abbey, The National Gallery, The Public Records Office in London and Ely Cathedral.

In the early 90s he began focussing on his own work which reflects his love of mediaeval art and inspiration from travels to India and Egypt.

Recent commissions have led to work on bespoke fireplaces in traditional and contemporary designs – including a replica of the fireplace at Muchelney Abbey.

Andrea works mainly in charcoal but has recently been studying printmaking and a number of her new etchings are the result of this.

She initially trained at Art Colleges in Portsmouth & Dartington and is influenced by her extensive travels as well as her home.

She often uses the animals from the surrounding farms as subject matter for her work.

They live and work in a 16th Century house. This has proved to be an ideal location for the sculpture and stonecarving workshops that Tom runs and a source of material for Andrea’s work.

The Nine Springs Natural Health Clinic is happy to welcome visitors who wish to view the artwork.

They suggest that people call to check about classes in the Studio as this will limit the work that can be viewed.

When arriving at Nine Springs visitors should first go to the reception area.
