HECTIC scenes have greeted the opening of the new Morrisons supermarket in Burnham earlier today.
Hundreds of curious shoppers descended on the store for its first day of trading with some being forced to find alternative parking.
The shop's car park was so full at one point people were parking in front of the RNLI lifeboat station.
Police were called to deal with a disturbance after one car was clamped and a tow truck arrived, according to onlookers.
Despite this, the firm has hailed the first day of trading as a huge success.
Store manager Steve Pearson said: “We've had an amazing response from customers, and they have been a pleasure to serve. I would like to thank them and my colleagues for making the day such a success.”
