THE man who will be tasked with lifting Britain out of the economic crisis should the Conservatives win next year’s General Election was in the Bridgwater area yesterday.
Shadow Chancellor George Osborne visited Hinkley Point during a trip to Somerset to promote the Conservative’s county council election campaign.
He was given a tour of the power station and met with senior officials from EDF Energy, which intends to build two new nuclear reactors at Hinkley.
The Mercury reported in April how the Government has named Hinkley as one of 11 sites where new nuclear power stations could be built.
