Two men arrested after farm dog theft

A FARMER has been reunited with his pedigree dogs after they were stolen from his home on the Quantock Hills and kept in a property in Ilton.

The cocker spaniels were taken from Inwood Farm, Nether Stowey, the home of Andrew Jeanes, on Easter Monday.

Last week, Mr Jeanes was reunited with three-year-old Rusty and her older sister, Woof, after police raided the property in Ilton.

Mr Jeanes said: “I’m very pleased to have them back.

“They both seem fine and were very pleased to see me when they got back.”

Though both dogs, valued at around £10,000, were in good health, Woof was pregnant at the time of the theft and sadly she lost her puppies.

PC Rob Jacobs, of Bridgwater Police, said: “Communication between the local community and the police has been excellent in this case.

“It’s a great example of how Safer Stronger Neighbourhoods can work and why I’d actively encourage communities to keep close ties with their local neighbourhood police teams.”

Two men aged 37 and 19 were arrested in connection with the dog theft and have been released on bail.
