UFO Fever: Are you a believer?

A sighting of a mysterious object in the skies over Brean.

Darren Woodland's unexplained shot.

First published in Somerset Exclusive by

PEOPLE have been going UFO crazy all week as images of strange floating objects crop up across Somerset.

The Weekly News has obtained these exclusive images of what appears to be an Unidentified Flying Object in the skies over Burnham.

Reader Darren Woodland caught the bizarre barrel-like object over the Burnham and Weston area on his mobile phone on Christmas Day last year from his back garden in Wembdon.

But what do you think? Could this be a hoax or is it the real deal? Do you believe in UFOs or are they the stuff of science fiction?

Maybe you have caught some unexplained images in our area? If so send them into us at newsdesk@burnhamnews.co.uk, or text your picture to 80360 and start your message WEEKLY NEWS – you can also get in touch by calling 01278-727962.

Swindon UFO Research says...

Hi,

Swindon UFO Research was contacted to comment on the video before the story hit the main newswire. At very short notice we watched the video and after a little research concluded that this was a type of balloon. We guided the researcher to a website which plainly showed these balloons in action and were confident that the real story behind this UFO would be published.

A few hours later the story broke and we were dismayed to find that our conclusions had been ignored and instead the air of mystery was perpetuated by the press release.

There is no mystery. This is a solar balloon sometimes known as a solar airship. I have included a link to read about these.

The Wiki entry explains everything. Or you can search for Solar Balloon on your favourite internet search engine.
