TWO Highbridge students impressed judges after they broke records at a regional archery competition.

Darragh and Molly Joyce, who both attend The King Alfred School Academy, hit records in the Cleeve Junior Open Tournament near Bristol last month.

Darragh achieved a county record whereas his sister achieved a South West regional record for being the highest-scoring shooters in their bow styles for the Under-14's category.

At the tournament, Darragh scored 949 points out of 970 points, winning him first place and he was just seven points off the national record.

Molly also scored 683 points and also came in first place.

Kate Clough, head of PE at The King Alfred School, said "These siblings are so dedicated and determined.

"Not only are they achieving great things in archery, academically they are also achieving fantastic grades, with Molly qualifying for the Kangaroo Maths Challenge which has taken place this week. We are very proud of all they are achieving".

Adam Joyce, Molly and Darragh's father, said the pair will be competing in the county archery championships at the end of June and the national archery championships during the first week of July.
