A BURNHAM-on-Sea author’s latest crime novel will soon be hitting shop shelves - and he has high hopes it will be a big hit.

Damien Boyd, bestselling author of the DI Nick Dixon crime series, is releasing the ninth novel in the series, Heads or Tails.

The book, which will be on shop shelves on May 23, follows the exploits Nick Dixon, a detective inspector in the Avon & Somerset Police, based at the new police centre at Express Park, Bridgwater.

The popular series has sold more than two million copies worldwide.

Speaking about his new novel, Damien said: “I have to pinch myself when I think how many people are out there, reading my books.

“It feels like a long time, but Nick, Jane and Monty are in action again and do I hope it’s been worth the wait.

“Nick is on the trail of a vicious serial killer in Beyond the Point and I’d particularly like to thank EDF Energy Plc, who were extraordinarily generous with their time during the research stage for the book; and for allowing me to set large parts of the novel inside the Hinkley Point C construction site.

“When the body of a young woman is found on the building site of a nuclear power station, work grinds to a halt.

“The body bears all the hallmarks of yet another random murder at the hands of the escaped killer. Then Dixon finds a motive.”

Damien published his last book, Dead Lock, in May 2018 and said he is looking forward to launching Beyond the Point later this year.

The talented author will be signing copies of his new book at an exclusive pre-launch event at GW Hurley in Burnham-on-Sea at 10 am on Saturday May 18.

Beyond the Point will be released on May 23 and will be available in ebook, paperback and audio formats.

Damien is already working on book ten in the series, which will be set on the Sedgemoor battlefield.
