WHILE more than 1,000 people have arrested in London during climate change protests, children of Chard have also been taking to the street to make their voices heard.
Pupils from schools across the town have been taking part in peaceful protests in the town centre.
Children have left school early twice since protesting began in March, with plans to continue the walkouts on one Friday each month.
One of the protest organisers, Emma Shepherd, said: “The children firmly believe that this is the best course of action for their future.
“One Friday a month, children take to Chard town centre to March, hold their banners high, chant and last week drew amazing street art on the ground by the Guildhall of everything they will miss in the future if things don’t change.”
There are currently around 50 children taking part in the protests, with Emma hoping more with join in as the event grows.
The next walk out is set to take place on May 24.
