A dog warden had to go to hospital after he was bitten on the hand by a stray dog on Berrow Beach.
The dog warden was trying to stop a stray dog so he could read its collar or tag on the beach on Friday, April 12 when the dog bit him.
The man took himself to Burnham-on-Sea War Memorial Hospital but luckily he was not seriously injured.
A spokesperson for Sedgemoor District Council, said the incident has been reported to the police.
"One of the beach wardens was bitten on the hand by a stray dog on Berrow Beach on Friday (April 12), whilst trying to secure him and read his collar/tag," the council spokesperson said.
"He took himself to Burnham-on-Sea Hospital for a check-up and received a tetanus jab.
"He was then referred for an x-ray at Bridgwater Hospital.
"He is back in work patrolling the beach as usual."
